That is an awesome picture. These folks are my collateral ancestors (not direct line), darn it. I wish that Daniel's brother, Henry had been there that day. In my search for information on Henry and his parents, I have often come across the story of how Daniel walked all the way to Muncie to get his father's funeral clothes. Now I know what he looked like! Awesome! I also liked the story of how he and Elizabeth met at an "Indian dance".

The only issue I have is not with the photo itself but with the date of Daniel's father's birth. His tombstone says 1777, not 1786. I believe that Jane knew the birthdate of her husband and correctly had 1777 inscribed there.

Not wishing to start an argument of any kind, I only wish to point out that some researchers (I believe, incorrectly) link Rev. Henry Mossburg to Johan Heinrich Maasberg, a Hessian soldier who fought on the British side during the American Revolution. Johan Heinrich had a son, Heinrich who was indeed born in 1786. As for me and my sister, Peggy Mossburg Nichoson, we are convinced that we do not have any connection to Johan Heinrich Maasberg.

If there is a Mossburg researcher that is descended from Christian Mossburg of Belmont County, Ohio sees this, I would love to exchange information.

I would be interested to discuss the former issue with anyone who will do so respectfully. I have had some folks get really upset with me because I do not agree with their "facts". But I would love to talk to anyone who can shed light on the subject or just wants to talk about Mossburg history.

My sister and I have visited the Mossburg Cemetery on many occasions. And we were priviledged to meet one of Daniel's descendents who actually is living in the house that Daniel built! He and his family are wonderful people and we hope to see them again.

I would also like to ask if the submitter has any other pictures of that era? Thank you for sharing this one.
