Emily Bruce Turner

Emily Bruce was born about 1814 in Mercer Co. PA., to George and Miriam Cox Bruce. Her father fought in the War of 1812. She is a sister of Hiram Bruce b. 14 Feb 1818, and died 8 Dec 1905. 

Emily's father, George Bruce (1790- 10 Sept 1848) fought in the War of 1812, and was married to Miriam Cox 20 Jul 1809 by Justice of the Peace James McCune. He died in Slippery Rock, Mercer Co., PA, and was buried in the Old Methodist Cemetery in Harlansburg. Most of his children were buried across the street in the Harlansburg Baptist Cemetery. 

Emily married John Turner, a stone mason in Mercer Co. around 1829. They had 10 children. They lived all their lives in the Scott Township area. Their children were Sarah, William, Miriam, Hiram, Mary Jane, Margaret, Elizabeth, Robert, George, and Vesta Olive. John Turner died about 1855, Emily died Feb. 11, 1882 in Lawrence Co.
