Barnyard Opra

Barnyard Opra

This picture was taken in Dublin, Texas and my dad - James Thomas (J.T.) Ely- is in the middle row second from the left and I don't know who the rest of them are but would like to.

J.T. Ely lived in DeLeon, Texas at that time. He was born in 1913 & was about 20 when this was taken, so it would be about 1933 or so.

you have my permission to use the picture. The Dublin museum has everyone else's names. I only knew my dad, J.T. Ely & I think Dale Key is on the middle left end next to my dad.

KFPL photo of J.T. Ely

Hello Estelle Marshall!

Nelda Keever passed a copy of the photo to the Erath County Genealogical Society (ECGS), of which she is a member, asking if we could find some of the names or something more about Barnyard Opera. We are so happy to have been directed to your posting here. During my search, I drafted an article for our biannual publication, the ECGS Journal. Because I had been unable to find info about Barnyard Opra, the article became the story of KFPL owner Mr. C. C. Charles Cyrous Baxter. I have a photo permission request emailed to a couple of FamilySearch and Ancestry users who have posted Baxter family photos, hoping they will allow usage.

The journal is distributed to 50+/- annual dues ($15) paying members and complimentary copies are provided to area libraries, including Dublin, Hamilton, Comanche, Abilene, Eastland, Weatherford and a few others. If you will send your email address to [email protected], I can send you the draft for comment, and sometime in April, send you a gift copy of the April issue.

Thanks for sharing,
